Sprinklers

Although New York does have a lot of things,
one thing that is missing are sprinklers.

Our neighbor bought this one to help water his plants,
as soon as they saw him from the window,
they ran outside.

I couldn't keep them out of it.

J saying 'I'm freezing!'

I didn't manage to get a picture of K, he was soaked!  Head to toe.

I never would have thought that a sprinkler
would have been such an amazing thing for my kids to see.

firetruck

Also at Becker Farms, is this old vintage firetruck,
what was better was that it was open.

What kid doesn't love fire trucks!

Cherries

Oh how I love Becker Farms.
And what I love more is that cherry season started

the whole gang

G giving me his favorite!

Cherries today.
Soon raspberries and blueberries.
Heavenly!

Bounce House

Our great neighbors, yes the ones who bought the kids the bubble wand, have twins who just turned a year.  For their b-day, they got a bounce house.  It was a gorgeous sunny day outside and they offered to set it up for OUR kids.  (theirs aren't walking yet).

I was expecting a small bounce house, and then they blew it up.

The kids spent  hours in this thing!

splash down pool

As you can see, one half is a bounce house, the other one is a slide that squirts water and then splashes down into a pool of water.

After spending the entire day happy and occupied,
I am wondering where I can get one of these...

BIG BIG BUBBLES

Our neighbors bought the kids this very cool bubble maker.
K made some HUGE ones,
what a great thing to do on a nice summer day.

Beaver Island Beach!

It was a great Sunshiny day the other day so we headed off to Beaver Island.
They kids played and played and played.

In the sand

Building castles

Pretending this log was  a canoe and a bright green shovel that doubled as a paddle

Building holes for the water to fill up

What a great day at the beach

Fishing with Friends

pucker up!
Teeny tiny little frogs all over the grass!

There is a great little pond near our house that the kids love to visit.
We took the kids over there the other night with some friends. We dusted off the old fishing poles and cast them into the lake.
They were catching blue gills right and left.
K didn't realize that they were pokey and he poked his finger.
It was so fun.
Catch and release baby!

G's graduation

So happy for his diploma...well, actually the smarties attached, thanks Eliza!
The whole gang, we couldn't get them all holding still or looking at the same time

G graduated from Preschool.
He ABSOLUTELY loved it!
We were in a swap group with a great bunch of kids and ladies.
Eliza took the kids every Tuesday- G adored going to her house,
then the rest of us swapped Thursdays.
It worked out great.
He is going to miss it so much.
Thanks for a great year!

Akron Falls

Giving thank you loves
After she fell in
so pretty

One FHE night we headed to Akron falls to take the kids fishing. There is a stream that slowly flows through a park. C was standing on the bank with the kids getting the fishing gear all ready. He heard a splash. He thought, where did G find such a big rock, he looked down and saw J floating face down the river. He jumped in, it was only up to his knees and plucked her out. She was not phased.
She looked up at him and said, 'Thank you daddy."
Said only like a sweet little two year old girl could say.

Luckily we had a change of clothes and the night continued on with hot dogs on the grill, playing at the park, and fishing. No fish though, but the kids didn't seem to mind.

no pics

sorry no pics for the below posts, we're having technical difficulties with our computer and I can't quite figure it all out.

Anniversary

We just celebrated our 10 year anniversary.
Have I really been married that long?

We didn't do anything grandious, we figured we took our trip to Washington DC in May,
and we had just gotten back from Washington State.
We've had enough eating out.
C brought me flowers and said, "happy anniversary. here's to 10 more years."
then he stopped himself and said, 'well, more than 10 more.... eternity'
I love that guy!

Kellen's Field Trip

In the end of May I went with K and his class on a field trip, a marathon field trip to be exact. I left at 8:20 am and barely made it back by 2:45. The school is on a budget and had taken out field trips entirely, but they decided they had enough money for one, and they took advantage of it.

We started out by touring Anderson's ice cream,
where they let the kids build their own ice cream cones.
Then we headed to the fire station for a tour of the building, equipment and trucks.
K was firing question after question at them.

Afterward we went to the police station. They gave us the grand tour. We saw the firing range, jail cells, 911 call center and court rooms. Our tour guide was great, I think she was about 25 and had never been around kids. She talked about crimes, murder, you name it. One little kid raised his hand and said, 'what's murder' she gave a very blunt answer, 'when someone kills someone else' K learned things there that I have tried to shield him from. This girl was hysterical. She showed us the rifle case that was in the back of her police car. One little kid asked her if she could take it out- she said, 'We could, be we aren't'. She made the tour worthwhile.

The kids were troopers. They hadn't eaten anything and no one complained. They made it back in time for lunch and to catch the bus home.

sacrament meeting

On the way to church yesterday, I was going over expected behavior for sacrament meeting ( I don't know why I do-I don't think it helps).  I was asking the kids who we are suppose to think about during the sacrament.  K replied, Jesus.
Very quietly and under his breath, but of course loud enough for all of us to hear, G says,
"not me, I'm going to think about Satan."

i think we're in for an uphill battle.

Cottonballs

The other day I was taking off my nail polish.  I left a cotton ball on the counter.  G sees it, picks it up and asks, 'what is this?'  I laugh and say it's a cotton ball.
He asks me to get one for him and J and I do.

He loved that cotton ball.  He carried it around with him.  Told me that for breakfast it likes to eat Honeycomb, just like him.  He had to sleep with it at night.  I put it under his pillow so he could find it easily in the morning.  When he woke up, he couldn't find it and went crazy ballistic!  He was crying and screaming.  I found it-I saved the day.  He carried it around in a bucket.
Who knew the joy one little boy could find in a little white puffy ball.

for the record, J just ripped hers into shreds.

funny things

Last night I had just finished bathing J & G and was taking my make up off.
K walked into the bathroom after me and was brushing his teeth.
He said, 'Mom, when you take your make up off, could you try to keep it in the sink!'
Me, quite confused said, "What are you talking about?"
He then replied, 'There is water EVERYWHERE. All over the toilet seat, the floor and all around the ground by the bathtub."
I started cracking up. I had to explain that it was NOT my mess,
but what was left from the bath with J and G.
too funny!
