soakin in some sun

since we returned from utah, it seems that sunny days are few.
we finally had a semi-sunny day and shared it with some friends at a local state park.

the water was far from warm, but the kids didn't seem to mind at all.

we also made it to a local splash park.
we packed snacks and  a lunch and stayed for a while.

camp

dad and K had the chance to go to scout camp.
im glad dad could go with k and experience it with him.
he got some great merit badges and had a great time.

birthday!!!

this little man of mine turned 9! really? 9? I can't believe it. Time has flown.

he of course got legos and a new Wii game. his 2 favorite loves
we took a few of his friends to an amusement park by our house to celebrate.
they had a ball

it was so much fun. our favorite was the bumper cars
we came back for cake and ice cream.
oh, this boy of mine.
-he is so creative. he loves to draw and create new structures with legos
-he is so thoughtful.
-he loves his little brother, who who refers to as 'my best buddy'
- he tears it up on his bike
- loves vanilla ice cream and glazed doughnuts
-still eats pb&j for nearly every meal
-loves to play the wii
-loves to try different stunts on our tramp...or the furniture.

i am so glad he is in our family. he brings a sense of happiness and love that helps fill our family. i remember bringing him home from the hospital and he was tiny and wiry and looked like an old grandpa. he is so strong and healthy now. i love who he is becoming.

goodbyes are the hardest!

no matter how many times i do it, i don't think i will ever like it. saying goodbye.
it really is the hardest thing.

this was a funny relationship. last year C would have nothing to do with her older cousin. this year, she couldn't get enough of him. she would chase after him and call his name. she always wanted to hold his hand. it was so funny.

these two were cute little friends

these two little gals broke my heart when they said goodbye. i have never seen two girls who were more similar in personality than these two. they are two peas in a pod. they love the outdoors and exploring, they are both really responsible and helpful. when they said goodbye to each other, they both just started crying and hugging each other and promised to write. it broke my heart.

we hated saying goodbye to these cute little  boys.
great cousins/great friends.

on our way home we stopped in winter quarters. it happened to be the 24th of july.
i thought it was an amazing place.

the kids loved seeing where and how the pioneers would have slept
i think they would have made great pioneers

this temple was so pretty

there was a great tribute to the pioneers who lost their lives. it was very tender and touching. my heart was full of gratitude as i reflected on the many sacrifices that were given by so many for religious freedom.

crossing the great mississippi.
all in all, a great trip. we loved driving across our country and seeing the beauty and workmanship of our Heavenly Father's hand. It was truly an amazing experience.

snowbird

our last day in utah, we went to snowbird and had a great time. we rode the chair lift and then went on the alpine slide. we also did the alpine coaster. this was one thing the kids really wanted to do while we were there. we had such a fun day. i love being in the mountains and really miss them where we live (although there is an amazing beauty where we live as well).

bear lake

a great family vacation that we have enjoyed in the past is going to bear lake.
this year it was arranged so we would be up there as well. it was such a great time.
we splashed, swam, built sandcastles, caught little fish, played on the jet ski, paddle boarded, floated, ate raspberry shakes, went on the razor, enjoyed 4 wheeler rides, played games, had an intense water volleyball game and had a great time. the kids had so much fun playing in the water. such great memories.

these two little cousins were fighting over who's floatie this was

the whole set up

k got pretty good at paddle boarding

we will miss you until next time.
thanks for a great trip
