one of my favorite memorial traditions is when we go to Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo and put flags on the graves of veterans who have passed.
I feel like I have been so blessed because of their selfless service, it is a small thing that we can do.
I love that my kids go and participate as well. We talk to them ahead of time about the importance of what they are doing. By placing flags, it is showing that we remember and honor what the veterans have done to protect our freedoms. For their sacrifice and also the sacrifice of their families.
It is an honor for our family.
Both of my Grandfathers served in the military. (One for England, one for the United States). I am so grateful for their service. For their sacrifice that has kept our family safe.
I feel overwhelmed by the appreciation I feel for those currently serving in the branches of military. I cant imagine their personal sacrifice and what a lot of our service men and women have to leave behind. I cant imagine the worry and heartache that those left behind feel.
My heart is full of gratitude on Memorial Day.
(G was pretending to have a flag) ;)
G met up with a friend. How we have missed our Buffalo friends.
We tried out a new doughnut shop. Not new to the area, just new to us. It was BUSY. They were good, but I still think I prefer Wegmans.
C loved this little car
About lunch time we headed to the park. The kids played games, frisbee, played at the park, swam and canoed. It was so fun. (C slept in the car, which was where i was, which was why I have no pics). The kids didn't want to leave.
But, alas, all good things must come to an end. We said goodbye to friends who are moving to cincinnati and to our buffalo friends. We had such a good time. We hate saying goodbye.
Maybe we should start saying see you soon.
after a quick stop to di bellas for lunch, we were on our way.
Thanks richards!!! for a great trip!!!!!
