Easter Festivities

This easter seemed anything but typical for us.
We had been out of town until Saturday night (we usually do our hunt on saturday morning), so we had to do it on sunday morning.
We didn't color eggs.
ssshhhhh.
don't tell the kids, K was the only one who remembered. Not purposely, we were just gone and it kinda got forgotten.

Easter dinner was not a ham, C doesn't love ham and I reluctantly gave in, isn't it written somewhere you HAVE to do a ham on easter. I guess pork chops are from the same animal.....

We had a miscommunication which left me waiting at the church for C for 45 minutes with all 4 kiddos in the car, sweating because the elders were coming to dinner. I walked in the back door, and the elders knocked on the front door. Which left me scrambling like a mad woman to get dinner done. C went home teaching with the elders and didn't get home to late.

The kids still enjoyed it, just wish we would have had a little more 'down time.'

B didn't seem to mind the craziness
The kids checking their baskets.
4 cute kiddos ready for church, oh so sweet.

Washington DC

While C was off, the kids had spring break so we went to DC on a family vacation, or better named, a family trip :).

First stop was Arlington Cemetery. (we had flat stanley with us, he may appear in some of the pics)
We saw the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and watched the changing of the guard.
The blossoms were also pretty amazing.
G kept saying 'I can't believe how many people died in wars' because of all the headstones.

J loved these tulips

This little guy is quite a trooper. So happy on the trip.

J loved the flowers that were blossoming all over
We took the kids to the national aquarium. They had some cool things, I don't know if we would go again, it was okay. The kids were most pleased with their souvenirs.
I think their favorite part was riding on the metro, which we did A LOT!
4 kids, 1 double stroller, 3 bags, and 4 umbrellas
on and off the metro=a ton of juggling
We also visited the air and space museum by Dulles airport. It was amazing. G and J were not amazed, because they wanted to walk through the airplanes (at the one by the mall, they let you walk through some of the airplanes) and that was what they were expecting.

I told him that they were being little stinkers, and we needed to get a picture of them by this plaque :)- J didn't seem to mind, G was having NONE of it.
This plane was amazing!
It is flown by man, and it flew from LA to DC in 1 hr and 4 minutes, the fastest recorded time of a man made flight. It was very cool.

This was a space shuttle they had on display, it was HUGE.
Very cool to see.

We had to swim of course!
This was at the Vietnam War Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial
By this time the kids were DONE. Tired of seeing things, tired of walking, just plain tired.
Very few smiles in the next couple pics
It was interesting because the pool between Lincoln and Washington memorial was all drained, they are trying to fix it.

This is the Vietnam War Memorial
The Chinese tourists kept trying to take pics of J and G. G would climb into the stroller, head first, he wasn't even cracking a smile.
J on the other hand would stop and pose while they were calling her name. Funny.

Final stop was WW2 Memorial,
I think this was G's fav, because he said there was a duck in the pond. The kids thought it was fun to find all the places they have lived. Each state is on a column that surround the fountain
It was a fun trip, although I don't know if the kids will be up for a trip to DC anytime in the near future. There was A LOT of walking and A LOT of seeing things. Good family times though.

oh my itchin' fingers

While C was off, I also talked him into a trip down to Lancaster where my mother in law showed me a great fabric store. I got these little beauties! I can't wait to see what projects I can do with these, baby blankets, car seat covers, cute little skirts, I am so excited!

When C's parents came out last May, they brought this great fabric for a skirt for J, I am just now getting around to doing it, but I am dying to finish it! I can't wait to see how it turns out, what fun prints for spring/summer!
I also finished this skirt and dress for J. I started the skirt WAY too long ago, about
1 1/2, but we moved, had a baby, life got hectic, i just finished it and i love it.
This dress was also fabric C's parents brought out for J, and I finally got around to making the dress. I love it. I showed it to J and she looked at it and said, what about pockets. So, next item on my agenda, add pockets.

I also finished these projects for a couple of friends who had babies.
I feel like I am trying to catch up lately because I know in a couple of months, I am once again going to have even less time than I have now.

some random fun times weve been having

C had the week off for vacation last week, we had some fun!

The kids helped wash the car.

B is getting sitting down pretty good, but J was worried that he might topple over so she built this little nest of pillows all around him so no matter where he fell, he wouldn't get hurt. She ADORES him!
The kids found some ants and decided to play with them

We had fun at the park.

lost in translation

A couple things that have kept us laughing

J was singing along with our disney songs when he came to davy crockett, she girled it up a bit at started singin 'daisy, daisy crockett'

G also loves to play mario galaxy 2, but he calls it mario gallopsy

G said that someone in his class had seen the movie 'diarrhea of a wimpy kid'

Today G came in and said, 'mom, do you know any grown ups who have blonde hair?" I said, yeah, Aunt Mandy and Grandma Sherry both have blonde hair. He said,' NO! I mean any boys' I said, well, dad has blonde hair. He said oh yeah. I then asked why he was wondering.
He said, "I was just thinking that I might look kinda funny when I grow up."

G came into the room yesterday and said, 'mom, i think it's about time K got a cell phone, i mean he IS nine' I said, 'who would he call' g replied, 'you, i guess, when he gets lost"

9 months already?!

Oh Boy!
I can't believe this little guy is already 9 months old.
He melts my heart everyday.
He has the sweetest disposition and an even sweeter smile. He has great big blue eyes that just wait for a glance from anyone. He loves his brothers and sisters. When C gets home from work, he starts kicking his legs and can't wait for daddy to pick him up. He is truly heaven sent!

He weighs in at 18 lbs. 6 oz. and is 28 inches long.
He is a growing little man!

He finally started rolling at around 7 months, now he rolls everywhere.
He can sit, then when he gets distracted, he topples over.
He LOVES baby food (for now). He loves the baby oatmeal and especially the veggies. He used to start crying while I was feeding him and i didn't know why, I finally realized it was that he didn't want the fruits, just the veggies. He's gotten better and will eat both without tears :).
He has just started teething, it makes me feel bad for him because he is in pain-hopefully they will break through soon for this little guy.
He also loves to BANG things on the table and make a ton of noise.
He is adored by EACH member in our family. When G leaves for school he can't stop kissing him and always says, 'sorry mom, he's just SO cute!'
K always wants to help feed and hold him and J is seriously SO helpful with him, always holding him, giving him his favorite toys and reading books to him (especially a light up winnie the pooh book, she quotes it for him).
He couldn't be more loved. He has been a great addition to our family.

a change in our color scheme?

I love so many things about having a baby boy.
The blues and yellows. The pastel greens, i love the color scheme it brings!
I love the cars scattered all over the floor and the legos (okay, maybe I dont LOVE cleaning them up, but i Love that they LOVE them).
I love their active and fun personalities.

BUT

I love so many things about baby girls! I love the pinks and brown and the soft pastels. I love the doll houses and the polly pockets. I love their soft kind loving side that is indeed part of them before they come to earth.

SO, WHY THE POST?

Well..... We are expecting a new baby!
We are giddy with excitement.
We knew when we had B that there was still another sweet baby waiting to come to our family.
I LOVE that J and G are 14 months apart and they are such great friends and each others side kicks! I know the first year is tricky and don't plan on going to many places, but we are hoping these next 2 will be just as great friends!

Even when B was 3 weeks old, J kept asking me, mom, you have another baby in your belly, right? K kept saying, mom, I think we need one more.
Little did they know C and I both felt the same.

So, any guesses?
I didn't give it away with the ultra sound pics.

I love this little profile shot!

Well, indeed, we will be switching our color scheme.
It looks like pinks will be back in our baby wardrobe.
We are thrilled, now we just have to wait til June!

Firsts

B got his very first haircut from dad.
He had a couple of long hairs that were sticking up that needed to be cut.

I think he looks so big sitting there on dad's lap.
He did a great job!

What a handsome little man!

fort anyone?

Do your kids ever do this?
Get every pillow and blanket in your house and stack them up and make a fort?
What a mess, but what fun!

PS... C is under all of those
