Hershey Spring Break

We went to Hershey over spring break. I hauled all the kids to a Dr appt for G, then we all went to Hershey. We of course did the Hershey ride, where dairy cows sing about delicious 'hershey milk chocolate, tasty treat.." and then get a freeeeeee piece of candy.

Then we headed upstairs to let the kids choose their 'make your own dessert'
G and J both chose to decorate cookies with all of the scrumptious sugar loaded candy. K opted for the fondue, which I thought was rather weird, because he doesn't LOVE chocolate, but I thought maybe he was turning over  a new leaf. But, come to find out, all he really wanted off the $6 plate was the pretzel rods. Next time, I'll bring my own pretzel rods. :)
But the kids sure did have a great time!

this boy!

So, little B, is a crack up. He hasn't eaten baby oatmeal for about 6 months. BUT, when little C started eating it, he decided he HAD to have it! Now when I give her a bowl, when I'm finished, B eats a big bowl as well.
C was feeding baby girl and B brought the stool over to check things out.
He LOVES baby c and is always watching out for her (unless he is climbing on her or trying to poke her little eyes....we're working on that one.)

Doesn't want to miss a thing!

DC day 1

So, Arlington Cemetery is one of my favorite places. For me, it is  a place to give respect to so many who have served our country and given their lives. The kids were really good. I think they felt of the reverence of the place.

I am always amazed that you can never see an end to the headstones.

Love these pics!

One of the highlights for me is the tomb of the unknown soldier!
I read a little about what the soldiers have to do to become one of the guards. It's amazing!

C loved the blossoms

Dad would drop some of the petals of the blossoms that had fallen, and B and C were cracking up

I love this picture below because you can see the straight line that they have worn in the granite from walking their path

Beautiful blossoms!

Love this memorial, raising of the flag at Iwo Jima. It is huge and such a reminder of the freedoms that are kept safe for me from men and women serving in the military

DC, day 2

Our second day in DC was GREAT!
We started at the Jefferson Memorial, a place we had never been. It was amazing!

It was an amazing building

The view of washington memorial behind us. The reflecting pond is under construction, and the washington memorial is still closed from the earthquake. but still very neat!

Roosevelt Memorial

All the kids posing

I didn't realize that this was a food line when I had the kids posing. Possibly slightly disrespectful?

The whole gang on the streets of DC

Natural History Museum

I love pics of little C sucking her thumb. She always puts her finger up around her nose. How cute is that?!

Even the bustle of DC couldnt keep B awake

We got popsicles on the street and thoroughly enjoyed them

WW2 Memorial

I think this was one of a million times that Jer signaled us to keep moving forward.
