We had a great labor day.
We started with a hike to Eternal Flame waterfall, always a pleaser for the kids.

Being brave and hiking so hike

After the hike, we had a little picnic/bbq.
It was a little chilly and we got a little rain and had to leave quickly.
We then went to a place called Evangola State Park.
The rain cleared out and it proved to be a very sunshiny afternoon.

G couldn't wait to get in the water

Building beautiful castles.

We hike along the shore line.
The water is amazing. It is SO clear and instead of sand, there is hard rock shale that juts out into the water. They boys, C and J-I mean-older boys, found huge flat rocks that they kept skipping into the water.

The younger boys found great places to hike.

Strolling along the beach.

It was a gorgeous day and we lucked out, at least we thought we did.
We looked out and could see 3 pieces of land in the distance that jutted out into the water.
The further we walked, we noticed one had disappeared behind what appeared to be a quick moving storm. We decided to head back, and no time too soon, the second piece of land was now gone. We started going as quick as we could, pretty soon the third piece had also vanished behind this storm. In less than 5 minutes, we saw the water moving across the water and then we were being pelted by HUGE raindrops. I was carrying J and trying to run in the sand-never a good combo. She was whining and saying the rain was hurting her. I was lucky and spotted a big tupperware bin lid on the sand so I snatched it up and held it over J to help keep the rain from pelting her. The rain was POURING down on us. We finally made it to our -wet, sopping towels and bags, which were now covered in sand, and we headed to our cars. I don't think any of us had ever been that wet, other than when jumping into a lake. My hair and clothes were dripping, I had beautiful streaks of mascara dripping down my cheeks, it was a good laugh.
Clean up was another story.
I tried to wash the sand off of all the wet sopping clothes. I still had a good cup in my washer and dryer. Oh, the wet soppiness, what a mess!
